Types of Lung Cancer:

The most frequent types of cancer that are found in the lung are called squamous cell cancer, adenocarcinoma and large cell undifferentiated carcinoma. These are also collectively known as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCCL). Another frequently found cancer is called small cell lung cancer (SCCL). Small cell cancer is often called "oat cell" cancer. There are other cancers that are not seen as often. They include mesothelioma, bronchio-alvelolar and pancoast cancers.

Lung cancer is especially deadly because it is often found in advanced stages. At diagnosis it is common to see cancer spread to the lymph nodes and distant areas such as the bone, adrenal glands, brain and liver.
